Research impact is ‘the contribution that research and creative practice makes to society, the environment and the economy.’ It encompasses the diverse ways in which the knowledge and outputs generated by research benefit individuals, whānau, communities, organisations, Aotearoa New Zealand, and the world. Research impact is essentially your research making a difference to people’s lives.” (Source: ORSI)

The University of Auckland Business School (UABS) invites you to submit a case for the Research Impact Competition that is based on a research publication. The case needs to be developed according to the guidelines below and should showcase achievements in line with the above definition of impact.

Applicant eligibility criteria

UABS research and PTF faculty (with a minimum 0.2 appointment) are eligible to participate in this competition.

Eligibility criteria for impact submission

The research impact should have happened between January 2018 and December 2023 with the publication date preceding the impact.

Prize

The best impact case will win $500 and second best case will win $300.

Submission

The deadline to submit your impact case is no later than 3pm on Friday 23 August 2024 by email to Juan Rodriguez.

Panel

The judging panel will comprise corporate executives and policymakers from New Zealand. This composition aims to provide a diverse and expert perspective in evaluating the impact cases, ensuring that the awarded projects reflect substantial contributions to society and beyond.

Prizegiving ceremony

The prize giving ceremony will be held at the University of Auckland Business School on Wednesday 25 September 2024, 2.30-3.30pm. Further information will be sent later this year.
