Ngā Tohu Kaiārahi Pakihi Māori o Aotearoa | Aotearoa Māori Business Leaders Awards and the Māori Economy Symposium and Awards Dinner

The Ngā Tohu Kaiārahi Pakihi Māori o Aotearoa | Aotearoa Māori Business Leaders Awards have been a significant fixture in the Māori business landscape since 2003. Founded by the late Associate Professor Mānuka Hēnare, the Awards gave the University of Auckland a credible and enduring presence in the Māori economy - honouring the achievements of leaders, organisations, and Business School alumni; fostering relationships with business leaders and iwi; and providing visible expression of the University's commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. The Awards have now evolved into the Māori Economy Symposium and Awards Dinner, which is held biennially.

Amotai Business Wānanga brings Indigenous leaders together

The 2025 Amotai Business Wānanga brought Māori and Indigenous leaders from Aotearoa and around the world together at Waipapa Marae to explore the future of Indigenous trade and economic collaboration. Hosted by Waipapa Taumata Rau in collaboration with the Dame Mira Szászy Centre and He Manga Tauhokohoko, the wānanga highlighted how Indigenous values such as manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, kaitiakitanga and tino rangatiratanga can shape new approaches to global trade and investment.Read the full article to learn more about the wānanga, the growing momentum behind Indigenous-led economic collaboration, and the role Māori and international Indigenous partners are playing in building the trade systems of the future.
