Feasibility and preliminary efficacy of the ‘Daily Health Coach’ health promotion program for young women: a pilot randomised controlled trial.

The Daily Health Coach is a health promotion program for young women delivered via Instagram. The program has been co-designed with nutrition and marketing experts as well as nineteen young women.

What's involved?

Twelve students and registered dietitians have created the content for the program. Instagram content, including stories, posts and reels, will be delivered over a 12-week period. Content includes health and nutrition education, tips and suggestions, and discussions around general well-being, body image, food relationships, and beauty standards and norms.

Participants must follow the Daily Health Coach for 12 weeks on Instagram. They will be asked to engage with early content (likes, comments) in order to continue being shown content for the duration of the study period. Participants in the waitlist control and intervention group will be asked to complete six surveys at multiple time points. These surveys will be delivered and completed electronically, asking about nutrition and physical activity habits, food relationships, body image, digital health literacy, and social influence.

Participants will be reimbursed $20 in Countdown vouchers for each round of surveys completed.
