Using nutrigenomics in sport

We are looking for athletes for our study. Our study seeks to pragmatically determine whether DNA-Based lifestyle advice leads to improved health and lifestyle outcomes compared to the standard, population-based lifestyle advice.

Our study aims to determine if genetic-based sport nutrition guidelines is superior to population-based guidelines in promoting changes in body composition, weight, dietary and physical activity habits, as well as attitudes, subjective norms and behavioural control.

The results of our study can be used to inform sport nutrition practice guidelines.

What's involved?

Participants are asked to engage with 3 sessions either online support or face-to-face dietetic support.

Participants will be randomised 1:1 to receive either:

  1. Standard nutrition support for sport performance based on population-based evidence (standard
    care).
  2. Nutrition support which is personalised, genetic-based
    advice for sport performance (NSN).
The study will last for two months and will consist of intervention protocols in the form of personalised meal plans, recipe lists and dietetic/nutrition support.

The study also involves collecting baseline and post-intervention data from participants.
