Organisation Studies
Organisation Studies (OS) is an interdisciplinary academic discipline focused on understanding the structures, processes, and behaviours within organisations. Our group is particularly interested in organising, leading and governing for the Anthropocene. We study and teach topics such as organisational culture, ethics and sustainability, leadership and governance, worker and manager learning, gender and identity, alternative organising, employment relations, and power and politics at work.
Our research explores how to craft and sustain shared interests of ecological and social sustainability. Drawing on Māori and Pacific knowledges, sociology, anthropology, political science, and cultural studies, researchers in our group encourage a reflective and ethical approach to understanding organisations, aiming not just to describe but to create more democratic, equitable, and flourishing working lives, organisations, and economies.
