The relationship between depression and gut health

What we eat impacts how we feel, and this feasibility study explores the relationship between the gut and the brain in people with depression.

What's involved?

The study takes place over 8 weeks with weekly meetings at University of Auckland. Participants will be asked to:

  • Take probiotics along with their depression treatment
  • Complete questionnaires to check the severity of their depression
  • Recording their eating and exercise activities
  • Take two blood tests

Eligibility criteria

You may be eligible if you are:

  • Between 18 and 64 years old
  • Are currently taking treatment for depression
