About Junting

I'm currently working as a Clinical Pharmacist in Counties Manukau DHB. I'm also picking up coding and working alongside friends to build software that can hopefully one day benefit our population.

I always felt doing something that intrinsically puts others first would be extremely rewarding. With a career in pharmacy I get to do this every day. The foundation it provides also allows you to branch out into many other areas such as research and development, health technology, and policy to list a few.

At the hospital I work alongside doctors, nurses, and variety of other professions. My role involves counselling patients on changes to their medication, reviewing their condition, while providing advice and education on medical therapy. From finding alternative medication, to assisting doctors in making sure a patient is comfortable before procedures. Every day is different.

Choosing pharmacy gives you a foundation to build anything you wish. You have the opportunity to take on the role of a health professional and helping the world in whichever way you want.

Junting Wei

At the University of Auckland, I had the fortune of staying in a hall of residence where I met some of the most driven, kind-hearted people in my life. I've had the opportunity to learn through all these people from different backgrounds which has helped me gain a variety of different perspectives.

The foundation our education provides means we are able to adapt quickly to fill gaps not met in our health system. Pharmacists have also assisted in setting up the Mangere Refugee service, building platforms for patients to digitally manage their medications, and increasing service in hospitals to help patients get the most out of their medicines.

Choosing pharmacy gives you a foundation to build anything you wish. You have the opportunity to take on the role of a health professional and helping the world in whichever way you want. We play an integral role in providing access for patients to the care they need, and empowering patients to take back control of their own health.

Chippy's approach

The overarching idea behind Junting’s coat design is that pharmacy and coding are intertwining in his career. To represent this, I’ve created a play on ‘the bowl of Hygieia,' the Greek symbol for pharmacology but instead of a bowl, it’s a computer. Computer coding elements also appears in the typography and icons within the design, while the globe symbolized Junting’s compassion for the people of the world.
