About us

The Advanced Clinical Skills Centre provides high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate education for medical students and healthcare professionals. Our programmes are designed to support the development of practical clinical competencies, promote lifelong learning and enhance patient care outcomes.

Teaching activities

We deliver structured procedural skills training for undergraduate medical students as part of their core curriculum. For postgraduate learners, we offer comprehensive surgical training programmes that support both mandatory assessment and ongoing professional development.

Our short courses include hands-on workshops such as suturing, laparoscopy, general surgery, perineal repair, OASIS as well as nurse assistance in both open and laparoscopic procedures.

The centre provides a dedicated platform for advanced surgical skills research. Our work focuses on health professional education, surgical skills acquisition, professional development and student well-being. 

Service and leadership

We provide leadership and expert guidance in surgical skills education, contributing to curriculum development, policy and best practices within the faculty. We also maintain strong collaborative relationships with the Clinical Skills Centre and the Simulation Centre for Patient Safety.
