How you can help
It is only through support and partnership that we can get the Autism Research Clinic up and running to provide important genetic diagnoses.
To fully establish the clinic, $1 million per year is required for the next five years. The Freemasons Foundation has provided significant funding to enable the clinic to start its journey.
If you have the capacity to support our clinic we would love to hear from you. Please contact a member of our philanthropy team (details below) to discuss how you can contribute.
Why philanthropic support is essential
- International clinical guidelines endorse genetic testing for children diagnosed with neurodevelopmental conditions, which include autism.
- Genome-wide sequencing is the diagnostic standard, as it improves diagnostic outcomes and increases ability to tailor care.
- However, this genome-wide sequencing approach is not currently funded or routinely offered in Aotearoa New Zealand.
- The Autism Research Clinic will close this gap by developing the evidence to support this diagnostic approach as part of standardised clinical practice.
If we can raise $5 million over the next five years, we will be able to offer a world-class nationwide diagnostic service for autism in Aotearoa New Zealand.
