The CPS trial

The University of Auckland is conducting a study at Tauranga Hospital about the long-term effects of a new drug containing cannabis on back pain and sleep quality.

What's involved?

The seven-month study involves daily and weekly online questionnaires on participants' smart devices. It also includes seven clinic visits to Tauranga Hospital in the Bay of Plenty. Participants will be required to have a urine test and wear a wristwatch-style sleep monitor for the duration of the study. Each of the 20 recruited participants will receive both a cannabis-based medication and a placebo in random order.

A $40 supermarket voucher will be provided for each clinic visit.
