Ecological genetics research
Our research is this area focuses on the conservation and ecology of genetic diversity.
We have several projects that are concerned with the conservation of genetic diversity or the molecular basis of adaptation. These projects mainly focus on insects but may include collaborations with other researchers on different taxa. These include the genetic basis and evolution of insect stress responses and adaptation.
Many of our projects investigate the conservation of invertebrates, which link strongly with the Department of Conservation efforts. These currently include molluscs, ground beetles, and giant weta.
