PhD students conduct advanced research that makes an original contribution to scholarship. Your research will be largely self-determined and carried outunder the direction of an expert supervisor. You will present your research in a thesis. In most cases this will be followed by an oral examination.

You may be able to include a creative practice component in your PhD. In some circumstances you can enrol at an approved overseas institution while undertaking a University of Auckland PhD.
