Research facilities

Our faculty offers a range of world-class research facilities that enable cutting-edge discovery and innovation.

These purpose-built environments support researchers across a broad range of disciplines, enabling impactful advances in medical and health sciences.

Zebrafish Facility

The Zebrafish Facility provides specialised housing, controlled conditions and expert support for researchers using zebrafish as a model organism. It supports studies in areas such as genetics, developmental biology and disease modelling, helping researchers investigate fundamental biological processes and human health conditions, advancing biomedical research.

PC3 High Containment Facility

The PC3 Facility is one of New Zealand’s few high-containment laboratories, enabling safe research on high-risk pathogens. It provides a controlled environment for infectious disease research.

AMI - HTX

The AMI-HTX is a high-sensitivity preclinical optical imaging system for imaging in vivo and in vitro research. It combines bioluminescence, fluorescence, and X-Ray capabilities. It is ideal for oncology research, metastatic tumour tracking and molecular imaging of small animals.

Histology Laboratory

The Histology Laboratory offers comprehensive histological and immunohistochemical processing for human and animal tissues. It supports researchers with high-quality sample preparation, staining, and imaging workflows.
