Anisha Dutta

A drive to lead meaningful change in healthcare spurred Anisha Dutta to study the Master of Health Leadership.

“I was inspired to study at the University of Auckland because of its strong academic reputation, diverse student community, and the high quality of
education it offers, especially in the Health Sciences field.

“When I was growing up, I admired how doctors could make a real difference in people’s lives, and that inspired me to pursue a career in healthcare.

I chose to study health leadership because I am passionate about improving
healthcare systems and making a positive impact on community health. With my
healthcare background and both clinical and non-clinical experience, this
programme equips me with the skills to lead, manage, and drive change in the
health sector.

Anisha Dutta Graduate: Master of Health Leadership

“It was after gaining some experience working in healthcare, both in clinical and non-clinical roles, that I realised my passion for health leadership. Witnessing firsthand how effective leadership can enhance patient outcomes and improve healthcare delivery inspired me to pursue this path.

“My capstone project involved pitching a business case for developing a women’s wellness hub in Ormiston to promote more integrated and multidisciplinary care. The goal was to improve access, continuity, and the overall patient experience for women’s health services. I gained valuable insights into the benefits of integrated healthcare models, the importance of coordination among various health providers, as well as how effective leadership and collaboration can enhance patient-centred care and drive positive changes in the health system.

“Through this programme, I have gained leadership, strategic planning,
and health management skills. I’ve also improved my communication, persuasion, and teamwork abilities, which help me lead and collaborate effectively.

“Once I have graduated, I plan to pursue a leadership role in the healthcare sector where I can apply my skills to improve health services and overall community well-being.

"Life as a student can be both challenging and rewarding. The programme offers strong support from faculty and peers, creating a collaborative environment that
encourages growth. I would encourage graduates and current students to pursue
their masters because it teaches valuable life skills, such as how to handle
complex situations and think critically.”
