George Mason research fund

This fund specifically supports academic exchanges in Natural Sciences between the University of Auckland and the University of California, Davis.

Value: The program will pay all travel expenses including airfare, housing, and a food/living allowance.

The program will not cover graduate student tuition/fees.

Activities could include, but are not restricted to, research exchanges for PhD students or visiting fellowships for academic staff. They cover a variety of areas including Biological Sciences, Marine Science, Chemical Sciences and others.

Proposals from University of Auckland

  • GMCNE assess proposals for suitability
  • University of California, Davis (UCD) give final approval

Proposals from University of California, Davis

  • UCD assess proposals for suitability
  • GMCNE and the University of Auckland host give final approval

Proposed projects can include:

  • Interaction on a current paper
  • Laboratory or fieldwork
  • Meta-analysis
  • Comparative project contrasting study sites
  • Workshops
  • And more

This fund aims to allow interaction between the students and staff of both universities, and provide opportunities for establishing longer exchanges in the future.

Please note: If a project cannot be fully funded, partial funding may be offered, or the project may be considered in subsequent rounds.

Should your project be funded, the GMCNE Research co-ordinator will contact you to arrange a funding agreement for the research. Grants will be paid directly to the staff or student through the relevant department.
