Smart Start Week

We are excited to welcome our new students to the Science Faculty and to have existing students back on campus again!

During the first week of semester one, the Science Ambassador Leaders have set up a stall in the science foyer every day from 11am to 1pm. A range of university services will also join the stall. This will be a fantastic opportunity for you to find out more about the science ambassadors programme and identify some opportunities for further development.

Tuākana Programme

Tuākana Science is a multi-faceted programme for Māori and Pacific students. The aim of Tuākana is to extend your academic prowess so you reach your full potential. We connect you with a member of our established Tuākana Programme team, which is made up of staff and students who have the skills, knowledge and dedication to ensure your success.

The Tuākana Programme provides topic specific tutorials, one-on-one sessions, test and exam preparation and more.

Science Student Support Advisers

Our Student Support Advisers are here to provide care and support during your time studying in Science. This may include concerns about managing your workload, how your wellbeing is impacting your studies or any personal or emotional needs you wish to talk through.

Rainbow Science Network

An inclusive community providing contact and support for LGBTQITakatāpui+ staff and students while welcoming input and support from everyone in the faculty. The Rainbow Science Network's vision is for an inclusive culture that acknowledges and respects all sexual orientations and gender identities and values the contribution we collectively make to the life of the faculty.

Student Hubs

The Student Hubs are your physical gateway to Waipapa Taumata Rau | the University of Auckland. For prospective students or current students the Student Hub provides a wide range of information and services. The services include anything from IT advice to degree planning and admissions.

Unleash Space

Unleash Space (Kura Matahuna) is the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship’s vibrant innovation and entrepreneurship hub, with a state-of-the-art maker space. Unleash Space is free for staff and students from all faculties at the University of Auckland.

Career Development and Employability Services (CDES)

CDES offers helpful career development and employability services throughout your study at the University of Auckland. CDES offers career-focused workshops, and drop-ins and appointments for quick career-related questions or final checks for your CV or cover letter.

Library and Learning Services

Library and Learning Services provide excellent opportunities, environments, services, resources, tools and expertise for learning and research. Library and Learning Services contribute towards your academic growth with undergraduate workshops, postgraduate workshops, and doctoral skills programme. Find out about the workshops and online learning resources, and get advice on how to develop your academic skills to the next level.

Science Ambassador Programme

The Science Ambassador Programme is for first-year science students and is aimed at enabling community connection, personal development and academic success. Science Ambassadors run various social events and workshops throughout the year. During Smart Start Week, there will be opportunities for you to interact with your Science Ambassadors Leaders or the Science Ambassador of your cohort to learn more about the programme.
