Marine geology research
We examine both modern and ancient geologic problems in the submarine environment.

Our research seeks to understand the physical processes and products of sediment transportation and underwater volcanic eruptions.
We also investigate biological processes and products using paleoenvironmental analysis of past life in extreme locations and explore potential future energy sources in the form of gas hydrates.
Research topics
- Marine sedimentary deposits (ancient and modern)
- Submarine volcanoes
- Submarine slopes
- Marine geophysics
- Gas hydrates
- Hydrocarbon seeps
- Organism and sediment interactions
