Plant & Food Research

Plant & Food Research focuses on delivering applied science, supported by a strong fundamental science base. We have a network of scientific collaborations and industry partnerships, both nationally and internationally. The Institute works with plant and marine-based food industries to develop environmentally and economically sustainable production systems, and new whole foods and functional ingredients.

Plant & Food works directly with industry organisations, growers and companies to make sure our research is driven by awareness of issues that relate to the sector as a whole. We integrate our research across production, manufacturing, distribution and marketing platforms to ensure the value of New Zealand’s plant-based food industry is realised.
