Whatumoana Paki – Waste Management NZ Engineering Scholarship

A Scholarship of up to $10,000pa for up to four years for a Māori student enrolled in the first year of a BE(Hons) or BE(Hons) conjoint degree.

The Scholarship was established in 2023 and is funded by Waste Management NZ Ltd, a leading materials recovery, recycling and waste management provider.

The Scholarship is name after Whatumoana Paki QSO, a New Zealand Māori royal elder, who was the husband of the Māori Queen, Dame Te Atairangikaahu, and father of the present Māori King, Tuheitia Paki. The Māori King and his family have graciously given their permission to name this scholarship after Whatumoana Paki.

The main purpose of the Scholarship is to encourage and support Māori students to succeed in their study of Engineering and support their future career aspirations.
